Friday the 13th ‘09 – Comic Con

The biggest story out of this year’s Comic Con, for horror fans, was Platinum Dunes’ reboot(?) of Friday the 13th. I have been following the production at B-D, but I try not to spoil too much of films I know I am definitely going to see. So, I usually skip plot details and production photo’s as not to run into any spoilers, but when the footage from the Comic Con panel leaked out onto the interwebs, I just could’nt help myself.

Having that said, everyone is talking about the biggest spoiler in the clip: Jason RUNS I’m not sure how I feel about it yet, and probably wont until I see the movie. But, it does make Jason seem more like just an actor wearing a hockey mask, rather than inevitable doom on legs.

As for Platinum Dunes handling the production, I loved the TCM remake, so I have faith in their faithfulness. lol. But as I was re-watching TCM ‘03 the other night, I realized that there is so much room for improvement, and I have no idea why I did’nt catch it the first time. Maybe because the original TCM was’nt THAT great to begin with. *Gasp* Before you start throwing stones though, you have to admit it was definitely lacking. I think the biggest grievance that haters of TCM’s remake is, that it lacks the overall sinister tone that the original has.

Before I go off on a rant about TCM ‘03, though, let’s just keep our fingers crossed that PD has learned from their mistakes and will win all horror fans over with their take on Friday the 13th. Let’s just not mention anything about how the F13 remake is more of a mashup than a remake
