December 23, 2008 · 4 comments My favorite settings for horror movies are those where the majority of the film takes place at night, while its raining, or during winter. There are all kinds of Holiday / Christmas themed lists such as this one or this one, which are both good solid lists, but fairly predictable. However, Stacie Ponder’s “Winter Horror Movies” over at AMC’s Horror Hacker peaked my interest for posting my own list, and then Uncle Lancifer at Kindertrauma... [Keep Reading] |

December 4, 2008 · Add comment First post from an airplane, wahoo! I had a chance to catch up on some movies over the Thanksgiving holiday. Sadly, most of the movies weren’t nearly as good as I wanted them to be. I had about nine that I was considering, but only watched six of them. The three I didn’t get around to watching were Killer Movie, Joyride 2, and Home Movie. I think I definitely should have watched Home Movie. The strange thing all the movies I watched had in common were... [Keep Reading] |

November 7, 2008 · 1 comment This past year, Massify.com launched a project with After Dark Films to develop a feature length horror film entirely online with a competition which would let users piece the film together through voting, known as “Ghosts in the Machine”. The resulting film became “Perkins’ 14″ (Winning Pitch, Wiki), which will be a part of After Dark Films’ Horrorfest III, aka 8 Films to Die For this coming January along with The Broken, Slaughter,... September 2, 2008 · 2 comments As I was responding to AtomicPhread’s comment on the MovieMaker: Is Horror Dead? post, I came up with the idea for this article as a follow-up. At the end of the post, my answer to the question was that *real* talent just has’nt emerged since the glory days of Craven, Carpenter, and Cunningham, with maybe one exception. Sure, horror has been alive and kicking since then, but to what end? Taking a quick look at the history of mainstream horror over... [Keep Reading] |

August 16, 2008 · 1 comment Ok, I dont usually do this, and the amount of posts like this on this site will be extremely minimal, if any. But there is just too much I want to say about Mirrors, to not actually say it. So, this is a spoiler-filled review about the movie, but you probably should read on because I won’t be spoiling anything that the trailer hasn’t already. As soon as I got back, I read BC’s, Brad’s, and Stacie’s reviews, and while they all made some... [Keep Reading] |

June 11, 2008 · Add comment If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m a big fan of Stacie Ponder. Her blog is called Final Girl and she’s probably THE most entertaining horror blogger on the interwebs right now. She’s a resident blogger for AMC’s Monsterfest and she does a webseries on afterellen.com called Ghostella’s Haunted Tomb. One of my favorite creations by Stacie, is her mini-comic, “They Won’t Stay Dead.” Its a quick and awesome read,... [Keep Reading] |

June 11, 2008 · Add comment Mick Garris, the Man with the Mediocre Touch. lol. I have a love/hate relationship with Mick Garris. I love him for the cooler projects he’s been involved with, such as Critters 2, and The Stand. But I hate him for giving birth to what is horror’s premium cable epic fail, known as Masters of Horror. Season 1 has four good episodes, at best, and Season 2 was like kicking a dead donkey. So, when Fear Itself was announced for NBC as being spearheaded by... [Keep Reading] |

June 11, 2008 · Add comment Actress Spotlight: Natassia Malthe Natassia has actually been in a alot of movies that I’ve seen, but only played bit parts. Like, Lake Placid, 40 Days and 40 Nights, Halloween: Resurrection (As the french maid?), Elektra, and DOA: Dead or Alive (as Ayane.) But, I didnt REALLY notice her until Skinwalkers. Holy Crap. She set that movie on fire, not that Rhona Mitra wasnt already burning it down. For those of you paying attention, you might recognize her from... [Keep Reading] |
